How It Works

Simple steps. Better painting decisions.

Make the big decisions first so your painting starts from a stronger foundation.

1

Upload your image

Bring in a reference, study, or painting and open it in the tool that matches your problem.

2

Check values, composition, color, and drawing

Reveal weak value structure, poor focal balance, and unclear color relationships.

3

Paint with more confidence

Make the big decisions first, so your final painting starts from a stronger foundation.

Why It Matters

Most painting problems show up early

Weak values make paintings look flat before details even matter.
Poor composition pulls the viewer’s eye away from the focal point.
Color only works when the value structure underneath is solid.

Catch the problem early, and the whole painting gets easier.

Tool One

Value Checker

Find Your Biggest Value Mistakes Instantly

Key tools:

Check whether your lights, shadows, and midtones are actually working before details take over.

Value Picker

Pick any point in your image and compare it to a clear grayscale value scale.

7-Value Map

Reduce your image into simple tonal groups so the big light and shadow pattern becomes obvious.

Compare Values

Instantly see what’s too dark, too light, or off.

Tool Two

Composition Checker

Fix Your Composition Before It Ruins the Painting

Check Your Drawing Structure Before You Paint

Key tools:

Head Canon

Compare front and side head structure with clear proportional guides.

Body Canon

Fit figure proportions with an 8-head guide before anatomy details distract you.
